The Story

Tyson Mathews was born in the year 1990 and oldest of 7 children, growing up poor and at times the family was living off food stamps and help from the LDS Church. In his words “I never saw myself as poor. I feel more like I have always had wealth because of the people I’ve had in my life. I couldn’t have been more blessed in reality”.

He was Homeschooled in his youth and got his GED to prove he had a general education.

In 2009, at 19 years old, he joined the United States Marine Corps Reserves. After training he worked for JPK Construction, Nauvoo Restoration Inc, & Nauvoo Log Cabins. Later he moved to Quincy, IL., jumping into retail Management for Neimann Foods to help run the headquarter showcase store in town. A couple years after working in every department of the store, Tyson got an offer to become a Manager at Hobby Lobby, Co-Managing the local location as well as traveling to other stores to do new store set ups and inventory management.

In 2014, at age 24, he made the big decision to partner with his uncle Jay and started their first Private Capital Investment firm in Frisco, TX. They lost money on their first few projects but with focus, determination , and old school grit….they have now built a multi-million dollar portfolio for them and their investing partners. Tyson, his uncle, & their partner Jon Berman now have cash flowing assets in Texas, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Illinois, & Missouri including Land Leasing, Mineral Royalties, Real Estate Flips, Single Family & Multi-Family rentals, as well as managing their resort brand Tiny Home Vacations. Their resort derives revenue based on daily rental properties and resort amenities for their investors and the resort itself has already had over 25,000 guests since 2019. Tyson and his team have customized a variety of cabin homes to create a place of harmony for families to come and enjoy time with their friends and relatives. 45% of all their bookings come from returning customers. Tyson says “There is almost nothing more satisfying than being on the resort with all the lights in the evenings, watching the guests sitting around their fire pits and the children laughing. We feel blessed to even have the opportunity to create a place like this”.

Today, Tyson is 31 and  is currently married to the love of his life, Nickie. Together they raise Grayson (12) and just this year welcomed their new daughter Sutton Ray into their world. Tyson has managed to keep a great friendship with his former wife, Rebecca Mathews, to raise their daughter, Malia (9). She is his lead designer on all development projects.

Tyson & Nickie also founded their company Hope Therapy to offer at home and clinical services to families that struggle with raising children on the autism spectrum. Their family and companies have started working with charities such as Convoy of Hope, Servants of the Word, & The Yuda Bands Project. Tyson personally served with Yuda Bands in Guatemala and helped fund 3 water wells with his cousin in South Africa to provide a water source for planting crops and feeding the community. He also received an award for his performance and devotion while serving with his Marine Corps unit in Shiroky Lan, Ukraine. Operation SeaBreeze 2011
